SAY—SWEET SILENCE
Sometimes it is the silence that most speaks to us. It is in the negative spaces, the absences, the what-is-not, where things seem to bloom. How can we attune ourselves to the hymns of not saying anything at all? And what role is left for speaking, for sound, in these acts of silence?
In the final exhibition of 2023, PILOTENKUECHE presents: say—sweet silence. Exhibiting at the Alte Handelsschule in Leipzig, twelve artists from all over the world present the fruits of their labour, ranging from magical realist oil painting to the soundscapes of whisper networks. In this multimedia exhibition, running from 16th through 20th December 2023, we pay special attention to what is not said, not shown, and how absence can be positively felt.
Here, empty consumerism becomes an act of spiritual transcendence. What seems at first painful may offer salvation. A withdrawal forward. A refrainment in action. The cacophony of history invites one to say: sweet silence. (PK)
