The first chapter is the arrival: the creation of a physical presence in a new environment; juicy, fleshy, steaming, like a fresh wound in the crust of a half-baked loaf of bread, torn open by hungry, curious fingers.
What is a habitus before it becomes a certainty? A concatenation of internal and external circumstances, randomly and carefully chosen, determined and found.
Soon it will solidify, sound reliable, when we tap our fingernails impatiently.
What gaps have opened up? Absence creates space and form.
